At The Ferry we are enthusiastic supporters of live music and through the season offer the bar as a venue for young traditional musicians to showcase their skills. So the past 2 years have been hard for us. We hadn't lifted the roof for quite some time.

But 2023 is seeing a return to something more like normal. The Orkney Folk Festival at the end of May, Stromness Shopping Week in July, the Orkney Blues Festival in September and Orktoberfest are back on and we hope again to provide a venue for young (and not so young) bands to strut their stuff.

As things return to normal visiting players will again be welcomed and there will always be a guitar, fiddle or mandolin for those away from home but prepared to pick up an instrument and join in – or start off – a session.
