Looking for accommodation in Stromness?
Why not visit our sister accommodation, The Royal Hotel.
As we move into our main season, the kitchen at The Ferry Inn Stromness serves evening meals from 5.30pm to 8.30pm every day. Tables can be reserved for dinner with the bar open from 12.30pm Wednesday-Sunday and 4pm just on Mondays and Tuesday. We are delighted that our catering van - The Ferry Inn Grill - is now also open for lunches from 12.15pm to 14.30pm Wednesday to Sunday. Great for al fresco dining when the sun's out, and when it's not, folk are welcome to take van food into the bar for a comfortable sit down lunch. During the summer season we do get very busy for meals in the evenings and we recommend that guests staying in our rooms book their table in advance to be sure of securing space to dine in the restaurant area but in the bar things are a little more relaxed and there is usually space for walk-in bookings. Lunch times are much more relaxed, just walk up to the van hatch!
Our online booking system can be accessed below.
Children are welcome in the restaurant - please include them in your party size when booking and let us know if you require a high chair. Unfortunately we no longer accept dogs during food service times.
We take online bookings for parties of 8 max in the bar or restaurant. If you have any query please email us at [email protected].

Our Suppliers
We are proud to source and serve a full range of Orkney produce, supporting local growers and manufacturers while ensuring our guests enjoy both the quality and provenance of the islands' fare. Our meats are sourced from award winning local butcher E Flett & Son, who themselves buy locally grown beef, lamb and pork. Our shellfish is from Orkney Fishermens Society, the local processing business which has been the lifeblood of our harbour town for over 60 years. Their fresh shellfish - scallops, brown crab and lobster - and when in season Scapa Flow langoustines and line-caught mackerel, are brought in daily by local boats, with whitefish sourced predominately from the markets in Scrabster and Lerwick. The haddock for our superb fish and chips special is from sustainable stocks, and local suppliers in Orkney and Shetland supply salmon and smoked salmon. Dairy needs are well met by local cheese manufacturers with milk, cream, butter and ice-cream from the Orkney Creamery at Crantit. With Vetquoy Free Range Farm eggs, breads and biscuits from Stromness producers Argo's and Stockan's to supplement our homebaked breads and cakes, and our own garden grown soft fruits and herbs when in season, we truly work to offer a fantastic 'Taste of Orkney'.
With wines and beer aplenty, including a full range of locally brewed beers and ales from the Orkney and Swannay Breweries, along with a superb range of gins from our 3 local gin distilleries, Scapa and Highland Park whisky and not forgetting our crystal clear water on tap, we will always make sure your meal is washed down a treat at The Ferry Inn!
