About Us

Situated on the harbourfront in Stromness, Orkney's gateway port, the Ferry Inn provides an ideal base for business or leisure stays, great all day food and a cracking community bar. Don't confuse us with The Ferry Inn in Scrabster.....that's on the other side of the Pentland Firth on the Scottish mainland.....another great little harbour inn....but it's not in Orkney!

We were delighted to have been selected as Best Pub/Bar for 2017 in the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards, and now for the second year, the county winner for the National Pub & Bar Awards, a great accolade for all at the Ferry Inn.

For over 30 years ‘the Ferry' has served as one of Orkney's must-visit pubs, playing a full part in the daily life of the town and host to the variety of events and festivals held throughout the year. Now with 20 en-suite rooms The Ferry Inn is also the place to stay.

Whether Folk, Blues or Science is your thing or Sea Angling, Scuba Diving or Sailing, whether its Shopping Week, the Shows or New Year, The Ferry is the place to be.

Under the Management of Karen and Gareth Crichton, who also own and operate The Royal Hotel in Stromness and The Shore in Kirkwall, what was always a good pub, now boasts an excellent restaurant with local seafood specials and clean, comfortable and ‘connected' rooms for business or holiday stays.

Harbourside House & Miller's House serve as Annexes to The Ferry Inn, just twenty yards across the street, the rooms are spacious, relatively quiet, wifi connected and set up for business or leisure visitors.
